Current Position: Valeria Costantino, PhD, is associate professor of Organic Chemistry since 2004 at the University of Naples “Federico II”

Research activity and interest: Dr. Costantino's research (TheBlueChemistryLab) group focuses its activity on exploring the unique biodiversity of natural products from marine sponges and cyanobacteria as lead compounds for pharmacological applications. More recently, the group has applied the chemical knowledge to explore the QQ and the QS system in bacteria symbiotic with sponges with the goal to design novel leads in antibacterial drug discovery. This well consolidated interdisciplinary works led to 10 papers in the last 4 years (2016-2020) on peer-review journals and one review paper. In addition, Dr. Costantino was invited to write a book chapter (The Chemical Language of Gram-negative Bacteria. Elsevier, London. 2019).
