He participates in presenting courses and lecturing to pharmacy and medical biochemistry students, as well as in mentoring in doctoral studies. For the purposes of scientific training, he attended a number of foreign institutions as a FEMS fellow (INRA Institute, Toulouse) and as a guest lecturer at the University of Maribor (EU Project).

His scientific work focuses on the area of the inhibition of virulence of medically important yeasts and the determination of in vitro antimicrobial activity of substances of synthetic and plant origin. He has published more than 70 scientific and numerous professional papers. He has been a contributor to several European and national projects, mainly orientated on the identification of microbial species and the antimicrobial activities of substances of different origin (nanomaterials, botanicals, de novo synthesised molecules etc.). As an active peer reviewer, he is also a member of the international editorial board in three scientific journals (Molecules, Archives of Occupational Hygiene and Toxicology, Journal of Pharmaceutical Microbiology). During the course of his work at the Faculty he has cooperated with several pharmaceutical, food-supplement and cosmetic oriented companies, as well as with scientific and public health institutions.
